Mans’ Ruin 1995 - 2001

Below is the only remaining digital evidence of the once great Californian Stoner Rock record label ‘Mans’ Ruin’. Founded by the legendary concert poster artist Frank Kozik in 1994 its’ first releases in 1995 where under the slogan of ‘Empty Pleasures and Desperate Measures’ referring to the ‘intoxicate requirement’ to be employed before listening to the records. Originally all records were pressed on either 7” or 10” vinyl making them highly collectable but as popularity increased CDs were slowly introduced. The original ‘Queens of the Stone Age’ album, Fu Manchus’ greatest workings, John Garcias’ follow up project after the demise of Kyuss, Eyehategods’ side – project 'Suplecs' are highlights of the labels success. Hard to find Melvins' side project Altamont and Black Sabbath tributes from Kyuss are both diamonds in the stoner rock rough. Not to mention the super – sludgers Porn (The Men of), Japanese drone crew ‘Green Machine’ and the infamous Palm Desert working of the Desert Sessions were all originally released on Mans’ Ruin.

After over two hundred emancipates of early and original releases from bands some now finally recognised for their talents and beliefs in this great genre the label filled for bankruptcy in late 2001 and collapsed due to financial exhaustion. The Mans’ Ruin Empire had stretched from the sun baked desert of the Joshua Tree to the dark depths of the streets of Tokyo, the Magic Mushroom crunching plateau’s of Scandinavia to ‘la mota’ infested streets of Argentina. Unfortunately both www.mansruin.com and www.mansruinrecords.com were removed when the company never paid their surmounting bills. The excerpt below is the discography of the site stolen without permission to be preserved permanently. The only place where you can buy any of these records is now on www.ebay.com and is well worth a visit.
